What is Lion Encounter
Lion Encounter operates stage one of the African Lion and Environmental Research Trust‘s four stage Rehabilitation and Release into the Wild Program. The first stage of the program involves the young lions being taken out into the Bush, allowing them to build confidence in their natural habitat and practice their hunting techniques before being released into stage two of the program.
By joining the lions walks you are actively assisting in the pre-release training for the cubs as well as giving funding for ALERT to; develop all stages of the release program; implement conservation and research programs to protect Africa’s precious habitat and wildlife; and engage in a variety of community development and empowerment schemes for those living in and around wildlife conservation areas.
The Experience
During the walk itself you will be accompanied by our experienced guides, handlers and scouts that ensure that our rigorous safety procedures are upheld allowing you to enjoy watching the lions play, hunt and enjoy their natural habitat.  At times the lions may rest allowing you some close encounters and opportunities to get a photo with the lions.  After the lion walk, which lasts approximately 1hr to 1¼ hr, you’ll be welcomed back to the meeting area by the hospitality staff, who will be waiting for you with a hearty breakfast or drinks and snacks. You can watch the footage of your lion walk, with the option to purchase a DVD of your walk and other merchandise which helps support the lion release program. This is probably going to be one of the most exciting and adrenaline rushing days of your life. A must do.
You are then driven back to the lodge to spend the rest of the evening interacting with other guests or listening to and sharing stories underneath a camp fire.

Located approximately 10 km from Livingstone, is Zambia’s first “Elephant Camp” – offering a once in a lifetime insight into these gentle giants.  Together with this ecologically friendly method of game viewing, a strong emphasis is placed on an Elephant experience rather than just an Elephant ride and guests are encouraged to interact with these majestic and intelligent African mammals.  The training techniques used by the trainers are based on the positive reinforcement method as opposed to the controversial “discipline and submission” technique commonly associated with Asian Elephants.
Our five adult African Elephants, Madinda, Marula, Liwa, Danny, and Mashumbi each offer two guests an unparalleled viewpoint of the mighty Zambezi River and surrounding bush area of Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park. Chavaruka born to Mashumbi in 2004 and Nandi born to Liwa in 2007 will carry just one guest each. We also have the proud addition of Sekuti, a young orphan the herd brought home from the bush at the end of January 2010 and our latest member of the herd is a little bull called Muyuni, born to Mashumbi and Bop on 29th December 2013. Both babies accompany the walk with clients, frolicking along with the herd. On return to the Lodge, the rest of the evening is at your leisure.
* You will be provided Tea/Coffee, Biscuits, Soft drinks and Bottled Water for this journey.

You will be transferred to this exotic resort that will imprint beautiful memories in your mind forever. This Island chalet is unique – the discerning traveler’s best kept secret. Views across the flood plains of the Zambezi and into the nearby National Park complete the experience. Once settled in, you now
Visit to the Mighty Victoria Falls ($20 Adult and $10 Children Falls fees, paid at entrance) & walk in the gorge below the falls.
You will be picked up from the lodge and driven to the falls where a guided tour of this magnificent UNESCO world heritage site will begin. A natural phenomenon and one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Victoria Falls is an immense 1.5 km wide curtain of water cascading 100m into the gorge. Around 550 million litres of water fall over the lip every minute. Surrounding the falls is a luscious rainforest, sustained year round by spray created by the thundering falls. There are plant species here which are rarely seen elsewhere in Zambia. During peak flow, the Zambian side of the Falls is a spectacular sight and walkways lead to vantage points across the Knife Edge Bridge.
